Luke Thomas is Principal Legal Designer at Portable, a design and technology agency specialising in legal technology and access to justice. He has led the design of award-winning digital products that make legal help more accessible — including amica, the national family separation tool in Australia, and Hear Me Out, an AI-powered complaints navigator. He leads Portable's Research and Innovation work, focusing on how emerging AI can responsibly expand access to justice, and has partnered with legal aid commissions, courts, and community legal centres across Australia and the United States. Luke holds a Juris Doctor from Melbourne Law School.
