About me
Robert West serves as the Justice Coordinator for the Criminal Court of the City of New York, the largest and busiest criminal court in the United States. In this role, he focuses on advancing the mission of the New York State Unified Court System and the Office for Justice Initiatives (OJI) by furthering access-to-justice and equal-justice projects. Through OJI’s support, he works to expand the concept of justice in a holistic way, fostering partnerships within the court system and with communities across New York State. Mr. West began his career with the courts twenty-four years ago as a member of OJI. He later spent more than fifteen years in administrative positions within the Criminal Court before returning to OJI. He now enjoys what he considers the ideal blend of his experiences throughout the court system. In addition to his work in the courts, Mr. West remains active in community-led initiatives, particularly those addressing issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
